Michael was born December 27, 1960 in Atlanta, Georgia to William J. Colter Jr. and Eugenia Thompson Colter. He spent most of his childhood being raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In 1982, Michael married Sydney J. Wright on Sanibel Island, FL. Together they had 3 children whom he was very proud of. Kendall Elizabeth Dean husband Joshua Dean of Austin, TX, William Bass Colter of Longview, TX and Kristin Michael Weller Allan husband Dustin Allan of Kyle, TX. Michael is survived by both his parents, his siblings Leslie Colter and Jonathan Eugene Colter, family friend Sally Ann Westbrook and many Aunts and Uncles. Michael is also survived by his 4 beautiful grandchildren, Camden Martin Dean, Charlotte Noelle Dean, Nola Lee Allan and Benjamin Lucas Allan.
Michael was very passionate about the culinary arts and obtained a degree in that field from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. He later went on to become an Executive Chef/Owner of several successful businesses earning many awards in his industry. When asked once what are the 3 ingredients you never leave out of your dishes he replied with “love, heart and soul”. While at work, he always poured every ounce of his energy into ensuring people loved his food.
Michael had many wonderful characteristics that will be deeply be missed. He was fun loving, spontaneous with a fearless adventurous side and giving when he was able. He very much enjoyed the outdoors, spending most of his free time by the ocean fishing. When he and his family lived in NY, he spent his time outdoors hunting, camping and skiing.
Michael was loved by many and he will always be remembered for the wonderful times he played in our lives.
