Was born September 3, 1932 in Taunton, MA to Lydia Meunier LaFleur and Edmond LaFleur.
She attended St. Jacques Grammar School and endured the hardship of WWII rationing, food shortages and blackouts from 1941 thru 1945. Graduated Taunton High School class of 1951. She worked at Camp Miles Standish/ Paul A.Dever state hospital school with special needs children, 1950 -55 and was awarded full scholarship to Gardener State School of Nursing. She graduated as an LPN in 1957.
All of her life, Vivian cared for and nursed others in her career and her family. She was devoted to giving herself to others and enhanced the lives of everyone she touched. She worked at Lemuel Shattuck hospital, then Marion Manor until 1978, followed by several pediatric private duty cases, and later at Myerlee Manor in Ft. Myers FL.
Vivian was a talented artist with oil/watercolor and drawing as well as a gifted Soprano vocalist. She enjoyed singing with the Abbot Singers, traveling to USO shows, military hospitals and events around New England from 1952-1960 on weekends.
In 1960 Viv married the love of her life, Charles Gerard Richmond. While in Taunton, they Co-Chaired the local Chapter of The Association of Children with Learning Disabilities under President, Kathleen Nascimento.
They also lived in Palmer/Ludlow MA for several happy years while raising their daughter, Terese Morache and son, Andrew Richmond. They retired to Ft. Myers, FL where they enjoyed the rest of their 63 blessed years together.
Vivian was an active bible scholar and member in her Church, serving in the League of the Sacred Heart, Ludlow, member at St. Cecelia parish and St. Vincent de Paul, Ft. Myers, where she served as an Ecumenical minister and worked in the Hearts & Hands Womens Community service ministry. She was a tireless prayer warrior all of her life and blessed all who knew her with her faithfulness, joy for life and lovingly baked cookies/desserts! She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Vivian is survived by her daughter Terese, sister, Janet Farrell, brother, Edmond LaFleur, brother-in-law Cliff Richmond and wife Sandra and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
She is predeceased by a sister, Therese LaFleur, brother Raymond LaFleur and husband, Charles Gerard Richmond.
SERVICES: Memorial Mass @ St. Vincent de Paul church, Palm Beach Blvd. Friday, June 21, 2024 @ 10:30am followed by a coffee reception.
Interment will be at Sarasota National Cemetery in September.
