Steven P. Flechter, 74, passed away the morning of Sunday, April 2, 2017 in Fort Myers, Florida. Steve was born on September 8, 1942 in Chicago, IL. He graduated from Bradley University and had a long and adventurous career at Amoco where he became a world traveler and made lasting friendships. He married Ann Staudacher in Milwaukee, WI and after living abroad in Iran and then later in Colorado, he and his family settled into their home in Wheaton, IL. A lover of boating and sailing, Steve spent his summers at his lake home in Northern Michigan on his beloved Elk Lake. He loved sharing this home and making memories with his wife, daughters and eight grandchildren. He was loved and adored by his family and friends and will be remembered for his love, loyalty, advice and great humor. Steve is survived by his wife Ann (nee Staudacher) and daughters Ellie Gudeth (Kevin), Carrie Stratton, Becky Raz (Eric) and Meggie Segert (Bryce); his grandchildren, Kate, Andrew and Natalie Gudeth; Henry, Joey and Sophia Stratton; and Ava and Gracyn Raz. He is also survived by his brother Bruce Flechter (Sue Parr), his many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Steve was preceded in death by his mother Florence (nee Schawel) and his father Stewart Flechter. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 5015 Lincoln Ave., Lisle, IL. A funeral mass celebrating Steve's life will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Daniel's Church, 101 West Loop Rd., Wheaton, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Steve's honor may be made to the Amyloidosis Foundation at http://www.amyloidosis.org.
