Ron was born February 2, 1951 in Manhattan, NY to George and Julia Ziegler. In seventh grade in Bergenfield, NJ, he met Rosanne who was to become his wife of 49 years. He attended Rutgers University and its School of Pharmacy where he received his degree. He was a pharmacist at Betty Lee Drugs in Bergenfield for several years. He went on to pharmaceutical sales with various companies, relocating to Clarence, NY in the Buffalo area. In his twenty years there, he raised his son, Ryan, and his daughter, Jenna. When he wasn’t attending their soccer games, band concerts, and volleyball matches, he was active in the First Presbyterian Church of Clarence, finding time to serve as a deacon. He later retired to the Gateway community of Fort Myers, FL, where he became an avid reader, golfer, theatregoer, and remained a devoted Buffalo Bills fan. He joined The Club at Gateway where he served as board president and ambassador for several years. He was instrumental in the sale of the club from member-owned to private ownership.
He is survived by his wife, Rosanne, his loving children, Ryan of Fort Myers and Jenna (Wasim) Mohsini of Buffalo, and his step-grandchildren, Nadia and Cyrus. Sadly, he left this world before becoming a grandfather to his first grandchild, baby Cecilia due in February 2023.
A memorial service will take place in the spring.
Donations in Ron’s memory can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org) or Hope Hospice of Fort Myers (https://donate.hopehcs.org).
