Linda Carlisle Howard passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 26 in Ft. Myers, FL. Linda was born to the late Josephine L. Carlisle and William A. Carlisle on July 1, 1935, in Pittsburgh, PA.
Linda grew up in Dubois, PA, along with her sister, Lore Carlisle Sheedy, and brother, William A. Carlisle Jr. She attended DuBois High School and Mount Vernon Seminary, and graduated from Rosemont College in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
Linda moved to Pittsburgh, PA, where she was a school teacher for special needs children and later held a position raising funds with the United Way. Linda met the love of her life, E. Patrick Howard Jr., and they were married on January 14, 1960, at St Paul’s Cathedral in Pittsburgh, PA. Linda then joined Patrick in Greensburg, PA, where they would begin their family.
The family later resided in DuBois, PA, and then, State College, PA, where they remained for nearly twenty years.
Though Linda was busy with her large family, she was a passionate volunteer with the Pennsylvanians for Human Life organization. She was also an active member of various groups affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church, as well as a volunteer at her children’s schools.
Linda is survived by her husband of 58 years, Patrick and five children: Lore, Michael, Carlisle, Lisbeth, and Julie and her 11 grandchildren: Billy, Ryan, Jacob, Virginia, Charlotte, Samuel, Patrick, Henry, Moraia, Crosby, and Lachlan and great granddaughter Eisley. She is also survived by nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Linda was preceded in death by two children, Mary Virginia and Patrick III, and siblings, Lore and William.
A memorial service will be held in memory of Linda at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 12171 Iona Rd, Fort Myers, FL 33908 on Friday, January 4, 2019, at 10 a.m. A memorial mass will also be held in State College, PA, in Summer 2019.
