Kathy L. Kinsley, 63, of Cape Coral, FL passed away at Cape Coral Hospital on Friday, April 24, 2020 after a sudden illness. She is the daughter of the late Daniel and Marguerite (Peg) Kinsley of Ft. Myers. She is survived by her brother, Daniel R. Kinsley and his wife, Marcia, her uncle Frank Haskell, all of Ft. Myers, and her late uncle, George Haskell of Wolfeboro, NH. She is also survived by many cousins.
Kathy was born in Kansas City, Missouri. The family moved numerous times due to her father’s job transfers. She graduated from Florida State University with a BA degree with a double major in Russian and Business. Kathy later became a CPA after receiving a BS in Accounting from the University of North Carolina. After working for different accounting firms, computers dominated her life with designing of websites and other on-line work. Kathy spent several years in Thailand involved in computer tech support/repair and built websites for businesses there. She enjoyed living in Phuket very much.
At the time of her passing, Kathy had been employed for many years for an on-line garden newsletter, Garden Center News. She was the lead developer. Her workplace had extremely high regards for Kathy. According to her boss, she was “loyal, and quick to respond and smart, so tech savvy.”
Kathy is also survived by another “family” that she actually never met. She had dozens and dozens of friends who are saddened by her loss. They are her “internet” family. They remember Kathy as “brilliant, funny, kind and very well respected.” We are glad that Kathy stayed connected with a much larger circle of friends. For that we are very thankful.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the cancer fund in honor of Kathy’s late cousin, Barbara Haskell. “Barbara’s Friends” has a floor at Golisano Children’s Hospital devoted to young cancer patients. Contributions may be made to “Barbara’s Friends”, 9800 South Health Park Drive, Unit 400, Ft. Myers, FL 33908 or through “Barbara’s Friends” website through Golisano Children’s Hospital.
Due to the coronavirus, a date for interment will be in the near future. Arrangements by Hodges-Kiser Funeral Home, 9231 Cypress Lake Dr, Ft. Myers, FL
