John F Ryan

John Francis Ryan, 88, passed away on 1/7/2024 at home in Fort Myers, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on 12/12/1935 at home on his family farm in Ryan Hollow in the town of Akan, Wisconsin to Edward and Irene (Clancy) Ryan.

In 1946 his family moved to Madison, Wisconsin and he graduated from Madison West High School in 1953. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned a degree in Economics in 1963. He then moved to Chicago to begin a 30-year career with Kemper Insurance. He married Yvonne (Erickson) Ryan in Winona, Minnesota on June 27th, 1964. He and his family moved frequently in his early career, living in Des Plaines Il, Bellevue WA, Palatine IL, Berkeley Heights NJ, and finally Crystal Lake IL. He was a member of the Crystal Lake Country Club from 1976-2007 and was an avid golfer. When he and Yvonne retired in 1994, they moved to Estero, Florida and were residents of Wildcat Run and members of the Wildcat Run Country Club. In 2023 they moved to Cypress Cove Senior Living in Fort Myers.

John is survived by his wife Yvonne of Fort Myers, son Thomas of McHenry, IL, son John (Dianne) of Los Angeles CA, granddaughter Maggie of Los Angeles, CA and a sister Mary (Ryan) Busch of Madison, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Thomas, a brother James, and his nephew Michael Busch. He was a veteran of the United States Army and will be interred at the Sarasota National Cemetery.
