Born September 20, 1946 in Mount Clemens, MI, he was the son of the late Arthur (Art) Gagnon and June (Gardner) McKinney. He was a grocery man most of his life, working for Publix and rising to the position of store manager while working in Bonita Springs, Naples, Lehigh Acres, and Sarasota stores. He will be remembered for being very creative, a generous listener, a prankster, a loving husband and father, famous breakfast and chili maker, and his love of adventure.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a brother, Art (Skip) Gagnon, a sister, Susan Gagnon Bailey, and a brother-in-law, Art Mead.
Survivors include the love of his life, Alexandra of the home; six children, Adam and wife Chrissy of Aviano Italy, Ashley and husband Ryan Hoffmeister of Wellesley MA, Amanda and husband Joel Kusnierz of Honolulu HI, Anne and fiancé Phil Sebok of Maimi FL, Austin and his wife Adriana of Orlando FL, a stepson Marlon and his girlfriend America of the home, grandchildren Owen and Willa Hoffmeister, Gavin Gagnon and Shea Gagnon; and the mother of the Gagnon children, Mary Gagnon.
A Celebration of John's Life will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2018 at the North Fort Myers Recreation Center, 2000 N Recreation Park Way, North Fort Myers with Pastor Steve McGraw officiating. Family will receive friends thirty minutes before the service. Interment will be private.
