Jeanette Cecelia Shaw

Jeanette was born on December 4, 1932 in Springfield, IL to William Gilroy Walker and Catherine Collier Walker. In 1950, at the young age of 17, she married the love of her life, William Shaw, who she spent 67 dedicated years with traveling the country, enjoying endless camping trips, visiting state parks and sightseeing. Jeanette’s favorite past times included traveling, hiking, shopping, reading, visiting the library, sweets and more than anything, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great great grandchildren. She was also a member First Christian Church for over 50 years.

She is survived by her devoted daughter and caretaker, Cathy McIntyre, and son Gary Shaw (Kristall), her sister’s Jean Newman (Elmer), Doris Cisco, Bonnie Palmer (Hoppy), and Betty Bain, four grandchildren Amber Hitzing (Brian), Tamara Hottinger, Ashley Getrost (Brad), and Courtney Gabelbauer (Jim), ten great grandchildren Chelsea Thrash, Peyton Hottinger, Faith Hottinger, Haleigh Cain (Matt), Cassidy Vasconcellos (Christopher), Kellen Getrost, Camryn Getrost, Presley Getrost, Henry Gabelbauer, and Clara Gabelbauer, and three and a half great great grandchildren Lylah Thrash, Oden Thrash, Jack Cain and baby Vasconcellos.

Jeanette is predeceased by her loving husband, William Shaw, son, Billy Shaw, mother, Catherine Collier Walker, father, William Gilroy Walker, and step- father, Jim Bain.

A visitation for Jeanette will be held Tuesday, July 25th at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, FL 33913 from 10 to 12pm with funeral service and burial to follow.
