Frank M. Vetter Jr., age 76, of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 10, 2022. Frank was born in Richmond, Virginia to Frank and Frances Vetter. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, coach, uncle, and friend to many. Frank always had a great passion for sports and was a natural athlete and successful starting pitcher for his high school and Edison Community College baseball teams. He was also one of the hardest working men you would ever meet and took tremendous pride in working hard to support his large family. Frank selflessly and tirelessly gave 50 years to Florida Power and Light before retiring in 2019, in addition to running his family-owned landscaping business and later organizing/officiating various sports leagues between Lee County and Sanibel Island. There wasn’t a resident on the Island who didn’t know Frank and he was instrumental in organizing softball, basketball, and volleyball leagues for the island residents for almost two decades. When Frank wasn’t working or spending time with family, he was commandeering a fishing pole and sharing tall tales of the fish that got away or enjoying a relaxing game of golf. He was truly an outdoorsman who had a zest for life and instilled the same in his seven children and many grandchildren. His greatest joy was to watch his children and grandchildren compete, all for the love of the game. It gives his family much comfort knowing he is now at peace, with a fishing pole and golf club in one hand and a baseball in the other.
Frank is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 56 years, Linda; their seven children, Katrina (Peter) McMurtrie, Lorie (Robbie) Osborn, Karen Robinson, Frank (Gina) Vetter III, Holly Vetter, Cindy (John) Mondoux, and Amy Vetter; as well as thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Dorothy Berry, Richard Vetter, Tony Vetter, Nick Vetter, and Charlie Vetter, in addition to many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by both of his parents, his sister Susan Vetter Krusniak, and his brother Joe Vetter.
To honor Frank’s wishes there will be no funeral service, but a Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. We invite you to privately celebrate his memory in your own loving way, knowing that he will be with us all in spirit.
