Elizabeth “Betty” Ann (Middleton) Armstrong, age 91, born March 21, 1932,
passed away peacefully at home with her daughter, Bonnie, and caregiver, Sareana, at her side. Raised in Rockford, IL, she attended Northwestern University in Chicago for one semester and married Bill Middleton in 1950. Together they raised five girls while relocating every few years for Bill’s career in the Air Force. Betty always wanted to continue her education. She attended UNO and Bellevue College in Omaha before they retired to Ft. Myers, FL, and attended the University of South Florida earning her Masters of Business Administration. Betty was the director of Human Resources at Lehigh Memorial Hospital and Charter Glade Hospital before opening an accounting firm. She married Tommy Armstrong in 2003 and were married until he passed away in 2020. During COVID Betty moved and has been living in No. Ft. Myers. Betty was loved by all who knew her. A gentle soul and caring wife and mother who will be forever in our heart.
Betty was preceded in death by parents John C Wilson and Anna G Wilson, Lehigh Acres, FL,
spouses William H Middleton and Tommy Armstrong, brother William Wilson, and son-in-law Paul Parry. She is survived by daughters Becky Ficenec, Barbara Parry, Beverly (Steve) Becker, Bonnie (Steve) Bridges, Brenda (Brian) Cupps,10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, niece Wendy (Ed) Dudding, nephews Brent (Shelly) Wilson, Matthew Wilson, and dedicated care giver Sareana Cavazos.
The family will be holding a celebration of life for Betty this Summer in Nebraska.
