Dominic was predeceased by his loving wife Kathleen Filippis who died December 11, 2022. His father Dominic Filippis in 1992, his mother Tillie Filippis in 2004, his sister Doris in 2017 and his sister Toni in 2022.
He is survived by daughters Dana Dorsey, Toby Fischer and Evan Morris and grandchildren Elizabeth Nichols, Audrina and Nathan Morris and Caleb and Quinly Collins.
His is also survived by five children from two previous marriages, seven grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. They include his daughter Carol Dietrick, grandson Brandt Dietrick and great grandson Ravi, granddaughter Aimee Dietrick and great grandsons Orion, Tyr and Slade; son Dominic E. Filippis and granddaughter Tabetha; daughter Libby Garcia, granddaughter Elizabeth and grandson Robert; daughter Monique Filippis; son Dominic Filippis III, granddaughter Samantha and grandson Mathew.
Dominic joined the Marine Corps when he was 18 years old in 1957. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA and during his time enlisted he completed the Motor Vehicle Operator Course in 1958 and the NCO leadership course in 1959. He was given an Honorable discharge in 1960. Settling down in Downey, CA where he lived until moving to Florida in 2007 with his wife Kathy. He enjoyed working on his military jeep, fishing, hunting and camping. He was also a lifelong bowler.
Dominic always had a love for life and joked around with his family whenever he had the chance. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved animals and even though he would always say no to Kathy or the kids bringing home stray animals, he would inevitably be the one to have that animals love first. Dominic was a kind and loving soul and his departure is gravely felt and the family appreciates your support during this difficult time.
Service of remembrance will be held on July 13th at 11am at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, FL. Visitation with the family will be from 10am to 11am.
