David was born on December 5, 1952, in Lafayette, Indiana. His spent his childhood in Monticello and moved to south Florida after graduating from Perdue University (1975) to start his banking career. He was a prominent figure in the downtown Fort Myers banking community with the starting up of The National Bank of Lee County in 1985 and Southwest Capital Bank in 2006.
David is survived by his loving wife Paula Robbins, his daughters Jackie Robbins, Jessica (Bryan) Schumaker and Julie (Dave) Washburn, grandchildren Trent, Rylee, Rhett and Zachary, brothers Jimmy (Sally) Robbins, Bruce (Diane) Robbins, Steve (Susan) Brookman, Gary Brookman, Tom Brookman, mother-in-law Dodie Brookman and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Catherine Robbins, his brothers Glenn and Billy (Sue) Robbins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to Hope Hospice.
A private family celebration of life will be held.
