She was born in Pontiac, Michigan on November 21, 1948 to Franklin and Juanita Van Schoick.
She married Leslie P. Johnson on July 11, 1970 in Akron, OH. She was a faithful member of the Church of the Cross. She taught school in Ohio school districts: Lakota Southwestern City Schools and Middletown City Schools, Bellevue City Schools, Erie County Board of Education and Newark City Schools. Charlie also worked as an education consultant for Ventures in Education located in New York City. She also taught fourth grade at Lake Trafford Elementary and most recently kindergarten at Gateway Elementary. She retired from the Lee County School District in 2010. She was adored by her students. She was a gifted teacher, seamstress and home interior decorator.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Juanita Van Schoick and a sister, Sharon K. Spires.
Charlie is survived by her husband of 46 years, Leslie P. Johnson: daughter, Stephanie Robinson; sister, Charlotte (James) Kegerreis; brother, Gerald (Susie) Van Schoick along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park 12777 State Road 82 in Fort Myers on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 2 pm for her Florida family and friends. There will a second memorial service at York Baptist Church in Milan, Michigan at a later date for her Michigan family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Hope Hospice 9470 HealthPark Cir. Fort Myers, FL 33908. Info. (239) 334-4880.
