Dr. Ronald Joseph Scheib loving husband, father, grandfather and respected cardiologist died peacefully August 22, 2018 with family by his side. He was 82. Ronald was born January 22, 1936 in Hackensack New Jersey, son of Joseph and Ethel Scheib who preceded him in death.
He was beloved and respected by his family, friends, and colleagues for a life defined by brilliance, compassion, and integrity. Dr. Scheib's career reflected a relentless quest to improve health care – to deliver quality medical care with consideration for his patients.
After graduating from the University of Miami School of Medicine, Dr. Scheib served in the United States Air Force. He was Chief of Hospital Services at England Air Force Base in Louisiana.
While in private practice in Florida from 1968 to 2006, he held multiple hospital positions at the Miami Heart Institute. They included Chief of the Section of Cardiovascular Medicine, President of the Medical Staff, chairman and member of multiple committees involved in creating protocols and standards of care, and ultimately, chairman of the hospital’s Board of Trust.
In 2006 Dr. Scheib joined the medical team at the Pritikin Longevity Center and shortly thereafter was named Medical Director.
In addition to his work, Ron’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family – Saturdays at the pool with his grandchildren, Chicago poker with his kids, Memorial Day weekends in Cocoa Beach – or simply quality time at home with his beloved wife.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy, daughters Valerie, Kristina and Jodi, sons Corey and Michael and 12 grandchildren (Travis, Brittany, Brodie, Carson, Alexis, Joey, Morgan, Nathan, Hayden, Kenzie, Michael, and Tyler).
Should friends desire, contributions may be made to the Autism Research Institute or the Alzheimer's Association.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 4061 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale.
