Owen.  I knew you only a short time from working at Newark airport as a papd cop and you as the bus dispatcher at term b yet we were good enough friends I visited you in davie fla after you retired. You were good to us cops and were a friend to all of us.  Rest In Peace  

Owen,   We knew each other from Term B at Newark Airport,  where you were good to all the Papd cops  .  I remember visiting you in Davies Fl when you retired . That was the last time we saw each other face to face, but Ive always thought of you over the many years .  I am saddened to learn of your passing   Your are in a great place in Heaven now. Uncle Owen you will truly be missed by this family. I know the last couple of years have been hard but you had an amazing life full of love.  One thing I know is you always said what you were feeling and I so loved that about you. You told me that we were both shirt tail relatives, it took me awhile to figure out what the hell that was. It makes me laugh just thinking 
of that.  I am glad that I was a part of your beautiful life and will hold you in my heart forever. I know you are at peace now and with your wife and family and friends. That brings me comfort.  I love you Cindy Vitelli

My Uncle Owen was vociferous and opinionated ,  like me.  At times he was controversial, again like me. However, his greatest gift to everyone was that he wore his heart on his sleeve. There is no one he would not help.                           
              Please allow me a little diatribe. Selfishly,my uncle was responsible for making me a catcher. In a time where there was only a 9-12 Little League he gave me a choice as the last kid drafted in the Branch Brook Little League in 1970 on a brand new team with no experience players as a stocky 8.5yr old., "Play 2nd base for 2 innings or catch the whole game". He taught me to throw to the bag regardless if the player was covering "That his responsibility" he would say.  When I allowed a 12 yr old to run me over at the plate( legal back then ), he told me " Next time put the glove and ball in their teeth"  Needless to say it from 9.5 yr  old on I knocked out a few teeth !  He also told our team with no experience that we wouldn't win a game and we didn't.  3 years later the last player drafted was the best player in the league and we were undefeated .                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    
               I guess what I am trying to say in a round about way is , " If all  of our children grew in the same era , were told the straight out truth about life and we were there to cushion their roadblocks and falls, we would all be as loved as Uncle Owen. I hope when it is my time, I am regarded in the same light .  Love you Uncle O

Every time that Alex and I came down for to visit, Uncle Owen would give us each $20 before we left. He did this so consistently that eventually I knew when he was about to do it and would try to keep away from him until just before saying our good-byes. I didn’t feel like he needed to do that and I felt bad taking it. But of course he’d get me, take my hand tightly and look at me so seriously and say, “You take this money and go get yourself something. Ok!?.” And then pull me in for the biggest hug and tell me he loved me.

I’ll always remember when Tommy first  came down to meet the family. Just before the trip was over and Uncle Owen headed home, he came into the “Dolphin room” and said “I’ll be waiting for my invitation to the wedding”. It was really special getting that little seal of approval from him.

My funny memory of him for some reason will always be at Cierra’s Hawaiian birthday party. I was just starting to get into photography and asked him to take a picture with me. He told me “Sure!”, and we went to the couch at the front of Aunt Dee’s house. All of a sudden he rips a big one and says “oops” and we both started dying laughing because he’d never done that in front of me before. That picture was also captured at that exact moment (I have to find it).

There are so many more memories of Uncle O (and Aunt Lu) that I will never forget but those three have a special place in my heart. Aunt Lu and Uncle Owen were always more like grandparents to me and I’ve always loved them that way.

John. Delores, Patricia,       Our thoughts are with you.  We know that "GOD" in his love will comfort you in your sorrow and send blessings from above.          We will always remember the good times  climbing the rocks to go fishing and digging for clams in the sand.  Week-ends down the shore with family,    great memories.         God Bless.    

Dear Dennis Family. We are saddened to hear of your loss.  Your  father was a great person.  He was  the perfect fit   for a  bunch of neighborhood girls who needed a  softball coach.  One of my fondest memories  of your Dad was the day I had to pick him up for a game with all the equipment. He didn’t have a car that day I guess. Well we piled everything into my very small Fiat.  When your Dad got in , his head was touching the top of the inside of the car.  He put his arm across the seat and I think it want straight out the driver side window.  He was a big man with even a bigger heart to all who had the chance to know him.  With deepest sympathy. The Ferrone Family
