John E. Smith

Born on May 25, 1935, John was the son of the late Jed T. and Ora (Summers) Smith. John was raised in Powell Tennessee and Fort Lauderdale and was a self made man, obtaining his certificates and license as a contractor. John honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1954-1956, where he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. John loved the Lord and was devout to his Christian Faith.

John is survived by his wife, Marilyn Smith; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Pamela Smith; his daughters and son-in-law, Kathy and Gary Porter and Lori Smith. His grandchildren, Julie and Phillip Jones, Natalie Smith, Amy Maison, Ashley and Josh Martin and John Scott Kaduk; his great grandchildren, Dylan Maison, Phillip Jones, Katelyn Maison, Ethan Jones, Olivia Martin, Jackson Martin, Jacob Jones and Vivian Martin. HIs brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Doris Smith. He was predeceased by his siblings, Jed Smith, James Smith, Imogene Cash, Harold Smith, Eugene Smith, Howard Smith and Belle Summers.

In lieu of flowers that family ask's that donation in John's memory be made to Vitas Hospice.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2019 from 5:00 - 8:00 at the Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 4061 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale. John's funeral service will commence on Friday morning, March 15, 2019 at 11:00 at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Pompano Beach City Cemetery with military honors.
