Gregory Muzii

Gregory was born in Miami, FL to Sally and Ronald C. Muzii, Sr. on July 14, 1966. He grew up in the municipality now known as Pinecrest. He went to high school at Miami Palmetto Senior High School, and later graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in Marketing. Greg earned a master’s degree in Tax from Florida International University. He worked as a Certified Public Accountant for Kaufman Rossin for 23 years. He married Beverly Gurney-Muzii on July 24, 1999 in Miami Shores, where they lived and raised two beautiful daughters.

Greg was a lifelong fan of Miami Hurricane football, baseball, basketball, and just about every sport offered at UM. He also enjoyed a prolific breadth of sports at the professional, collegiate, high school, and intramural levels, and he understood them all, keeping track of the minutest details of scores, plays, players, stats, and more. He participated in various sports throughout his life, was a spectator of countless others, and encouraged young people in athletic pursuits of any and all kinds. He played an active role in his daughters’ competitive swimming, ultimately becoming Coach Greg for their interscholastic swim team.

Greg enjoyed adventures, near and far, with his family, but also valued spending time at home with family and many furry (and feathered) friends. He provided a sense of security to his family, for whom he never failed to be present. Through his willingness to help, guide, mentor, and counsel, Greg was admired at work among his colleagues, many of whom became dear friends of his family. Recently, Greg became an important figure in animal welfare, helping his girls serve the community by rescuing vulnerable cats and kittens, rehabilitating them toward adoption.

Greg brought a witty, sometimes wry, sense of humor and enthusiasm wherever he went, touching the lives of all who met him. Greg was an unforgettable person and will be deeply and dearly and forever missed.

Greg is preceded in death by grandparents Lucille & Victor Muzii and Lillian & Morris Schwartz, and uncle, Victor Muzii, Jr.

Greg is survived by his wife, Beverly Gurney-Muzii, daughters Beverly Renee and Belinda Louise, brothers Ronald C. Muzii, Jr. (Stacy) and Mark Muzii (Alice), parents, Sally and Ronald C. Muzii, Sr., and nephews Cristopher (Alison), Alex, Nicolas, & Matthew, and grandnephew Connor.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, July 31, 2023 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Garden, located at 241 SW 64th Avenue, Davie, FL 33317.

Because of Greg’s passion for sports and his unwavering desire to connect with people about their team, the family invites you to wear your favorite team cap, jersey, colors, or anything that might bring forth conversations and connections at his memorial.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Molly’s Kittens, the nonprofit animal welfare organization founded, funded, and managed by Greg and His Girls.
