David was born on May 29th, 1935, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico to Antonio and Virginia Zapata. He moved to New York City in 1948 and attended PS 3 Elementary and Charles Evan Hughes (Textile) High School in NYC. He married Genoveva Ortiz on July 7th, 1956, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, on 14th street in lower Manhattan, NYC, and they were happily married for 54 years. He worked most of his career as a Quality Control Manager overseeing Metal Engraving Manufacturing and Printing Presses. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served with the United States Army, Charlie Company 26th Infantry Regimen.
David is preceded in death by his wife, Genoveva Zapata. He is survived by his children, David Zapata, Jr., and Evelyn Richard; his sisters Hilda Gonzalez and Margie Gallob; and his grandchildren Kristie Zapata, Nicholas Zapata, Sophia Zapata, and Jonathan Richard.
Services for David will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home on Saturday, November 11th, 2023.
Visitation for David will be held from 1:00 p.m.- 2:30 p.m. followed by his funeral service 2:30 p.m.- 3:00 p.m.
Burial will follow at 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
