David James Nero, beloved husband of Diana “Lorrie” Nero (married on March 10, 2003) passed away on November 23, 2024. He was born to Albert and Patricia Nero on October 18, 1956 at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL. He grew up in Elmhurst, IL and attended York Community High School where he made many life-long friends. After graduating, he entered the Navy. He served aboard the USS America where he was an Aviation Boatswain's Mate and earned the National Defense Service Medal.
He was a resident of Margate, FL and a member of the Cokesbury United Methodist Church, where he often assisted in the soundbooth for worship and even sang in the choir. He was a third-generation Plumber and worked in the trade until his death. In his free-time, he enjoyed playing the guitar, boating, fishing, and watching scary movies. Above all, he loved spending time with his wife and their 3 miniature Dachshund furbabies, Daisy, Peanut, and Maggie. David had a great sense of humor and was someone you could always rely on. He was a friend to many and will be missed dearly.
David is preceded in death by his parents and youngest sister, Karen.
David is survived by his wife, two step-daughters, Ashley Straway of Coconut Creek, FL, and Amber Straway of Delray Beach, FL, two brothers, Paul and Jimmy Nero of Villa Park, IL, and one sister, Toni Nero of Freeport, IL, as well as many nieces and nephews.
We gather together on December 8, 2024 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. Location is 2401 Southwest 64th Ave., Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33317 in the northwest building. The funeral service will be between 11am- 1pm. We are grateful to everyone who joins us to celebrate his wonderful life.
