Cornelius “Neil” Van Den Broek 71 of Palm Harbor, Florida passed away into the Arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 18th, 2018 at 8:10 am. He was born in Paterson, NJ on August 10, 1946, 8:09 am to the late Maria C. (Molendyk) Van Den Broek and the late Jacobus J. Van Den Broek.
He lived in Haledon NJ until the early 70’s and relocated to South Florida to be near his brother, the late Jacobus G. Van Den Broek and his sister-in-law the late Joyce (Tineo) Van Den Broek. He was a graduate of Manchester Regional High School in Haledon NJ and was one of the coordinators of the Class of 1965 Reunion Committee. His career started at the Paterson News and in 1975 became a Sales Representative for American Tobacco Company, Miami, FL making his way up the ladder to Senior Sales Representative in Tampa, Florida.
In 1996 continued his sales career as District Sales Manager of Commonwealth Brands, Inc. In 2009 he decided it was time to retire and after a short time went back into the business world and again in sales, began working for Blue Belle Creameries “to keep busy”. He was a member of St. Luke The Evangelist Catholic Church, Palm Harbor, FL and Graduate of Sun Coast Hospice with his little Boca (his loyal little min pin).
He was also predeceased by his brother Frederikus J. Van Den Broek and sister-in-law Johanna Diane (Duerr). He has two little great nephews Guardian Angels Daniel J. Bitzer and Jared Riley Lutz who are now playing in God’s Garden with their Uncle Neile! He is survived by his sister Maria C. (Van Den Broek) Bitzer and brother in law the late James Randall Bitzer of Ringwood, New Jersey and sister Anita (Van Den Broek) Haycook and brother-in-law Harold J. Haycook, Jr. of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. His nieces and nephews were the loves of his life – Debra (Van Den Broek) Gumbiner of Davie, FL, Diane (Van Den Broek) Maholm of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl, Jeffrey Bitzer of Monroe, NY, Bradley Bitzer of Wanaque, NJ, Michael Van Den Broek of Highland Lakes, NJ, Marc Van Den Broek of Newton, NJ, Brian Van Den Broek of Wantage, NJ, Harold Haycook III of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Kristen (Haycook) Lutz of New Smyrna Beach, FL, his great nephews and nieces Michael and Robert Gumbiner, Bailey and Hunter Maholm, Christina and Tyler Bitzer, Sophie, Miles, Marc, Reyer, Jase and Lynden Van Den Broek, Landon and Ella Haycook , Jacob and Justin Lutz and his Great Great Niece Peyton Gumbiner.
A visitation will for "Neil" will occur on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 2401 Southwest 64th Avenue, Davie, Florida 33317. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 11:15 AM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home South, 2401 Southwest 64th Avenue, Davie, Florida 33317. A committal service will occur Friday, March 23, 2018 at 12:00 PM, 2401 Southwest 64th Avenue, Davie, Florida 33317.
Neil will be missed dearly.
