It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and sister. Patti passed away at her home with family members by her side after a brief yet courageous 4-week battle with cancer.
Patti was born in Fort Frances to Peter and Helen Fylkow. She was the middle sister to Kathy and Linda. She met the love of her life, Joe, and they were married February 11, 1978. Together they raised three girls, Aimee, Dawn and Heather, who are now grown with families of their own. She was overjoyed to have welcomed five grandchildren into the world and spent many hours playing and caring for them. Ainsley, Henry, Abigail, Norah and Marina will miss their Baba.
Patti spent her accomplished 30 year career at Riverside Healthcare facilities; first as a Medical Laboratory Technologist, and went on to become the Corporate Director of Diagnostic Services. She played an integral part in bringing CT scanner technology to Riverside hospital and in developing the Riverside Breast Health Program. She was most recently working on obtaining the new digital mammography unit for the Breast Health Program.
Patti, together with her family, loved their time at the lake, whether it was on a houseboat, their cabin, or in their new home. Many memorable weekends were spent surrounded by family and friends and many new friendships were formed.
Patti spent her life taking care of people and was always busy cooking, entertaining and quilting. Her presence made life easier for everyone around her. Family was the most important thing to her and she was happiest when we were all together. Although we are heartbroken by her passing, we are truly grateful for having her in our lives.
Patti is survived by her husband Joseph; her daughters Aimee (Chris) Matheson, Dawn (Boomer) Redford and Heather (Leigh) Jarvis; her father Peter; her sisters Linda (Ross) Keeler, and Kathy Harrison; and her nieces and nephews Rebecca Roynon and family, Andrew Harrison, and Emma Keeler; in-laws, Mary Johnson, Terry, Rick (Phyllis), Kathy (Jim), Mary (Brent) and Leeann; nieces and nephews, Amanda, Matt, Todd, Jay, Chris, Jeremy, Annissa, Ria, Katie, Tanner, Jillian and Joleigh, and their families. Patti was predeceased by her mother Helen Fylkow; father-in-law Edward Johnson; and brother-in-law Robert Mainville.
Baba will be especially missed by her five grandchildren Ainsley & Abigail Matheson, Henry & Norah Redford, and Marina Jarvis.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Townshend Theatre in Fort Frances, ON with Rev. Diane Clifford officiating. As per Patti’s wishes, cremation has taken place with a private internment at a later date.
The Honorary Pallbearers will be her close friends Phyllis Johnson, Patti Christian, Anne Pycko, Toni Benning, Elaine Sande, and Felix Blasky.
In memoriam donations may be directed to the Together We Can Campaign at Riverside Health Care Facilities, Inc c/o Green Funeral Home, P.O. Box 427, Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 3M8.
