Marcel was born on February 22, 1936 in Cabano, Quebec to Paul and Alma Caron. He grew up in Quebec before moving to Hearst, ON as a young man. Here he worked at his Uncle JD Levesque’s sawmill earning both his Motor Vehicle Ticket and Truck/Coach Ticket. During the next several years, he worked for numerous organizations between Hearst and Kapuskasing, ON. He was united in marriage to Simone Pepin on June 21, 1969 and they spent their first year together in Kapuskasing. During a vacation across Ontario they visited Fort Frances and found a place to call home. They settled here and started a family, and later built their dream home. He worked for George Armstrong for 5 years before moving to Public Works.
He started with the Town of Fort Frances on November 29, 1976 and was there for almost 24 years, retiring on March 31, 2000. Marcel loved to joke around and charm people. He was at his best with a room full of people to talk with and share stories.
He leaves behind his son Mark and his wife Lori; grandchildren Thomas Caron (Serena Stromberg) and Amanda Caron (Cole Edwards); in-laws Stella Emins, Gina Stigter, Emilien Pepin and Henry Pepin as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Marcel was predeceased by his wife Simone on September 27, 2004; parents Paul and Alma Caron; in-laws Leon and Angelina Pepin.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
