Gord was born to Irene and the late Jack Huntley in Fort Frances, Ontario on June 9, 1956. Growing up in Fort Frances helped make Gord the outdoorsman he was throughout his life, loving fishing, hunting, and camping with friends. In 1983 Gord married Lorraine Agar and the two had countless adventures and shared hilarious stories with family and friends. They had two children, Angela and Tyler, both born in Calgary, Alberta. Gord lived and worked in Thompson, Calgary and Drumheller, making friends along the way, before returning to Fort Frances with his family in 1994.
Gord was predeceased by his father, Jack, in 2000, brother in law, Dennis Hayes, in 1999, and mother in law, Opal Agar, in 2002. Left to share a chuckle as his stories live on are his wife Lorraine, children Angela (Randy Shank) and Tyler (FalonRae Flinders), granddaughter MarleyRae Huntley, mother Irene Huntley, sisters Jane Hayes and Linda LaRocque (Danny), brother Arthur Huntley; brothers-in-law Gerry (Deb), Ron (Bev) and Mervin Watson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Don’t think of him as gone away, his journey’s just begun,
Life holds so many facets, this earth is only one.
Just think of him as resting from the sorrows and the tears
In a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years.
Think how he must be wishing that we could know today
How nothing but our sadness can really pass away.
And think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched…
For nothing lived is ever lost and he was loved so much.
-E. Brenneman
