Roger R. Deuben, age 86, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on October 21, 2024, in Oak Park, Illinois. He was born on September 9, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, to Raymond and Marie (Leverette) Deuben. Roger grew up in Saint Clair Shores, Michigan, and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1956.
He earned a BS in Zoology in 1960, and an MS in Physiology from Michigan State University in 1964, followed by a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Pittsburgh in 1970. Roger dedicated 36 years of his career to Dental education, beginning at University of Pittsburgh and moving to Detroit in 1977 to become a Professor of Physiology and Pharmacology and Dean of Academic Affairs at the University of Detroit Mercy Dental School.
On September 11, 1965, Roger married Caroll (Johnston) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where they began their lives together and had three daughters. The family then settled in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan, where they spent 43 wonderful years. An avid outdoorsman, Roger loved fishing, hunting, and raising German Shorthaired Pointers.
Roger is survived by his beloved wife, Caroll; daughters Katherine Moody (Ned Moody), Kristen Deuben, and Lee Deuben (Andrew Senderak); and two cherished granddaughters, Claire and Meredith Moody.
