Maria de Los Angeles “Big Angie” Cardenas went home on November 12, 2020 to be with her husband Samuel Cardenas, her parents Geronimo and Amanda, her brother and sisters, Roberto, Ascensión, Aracelia, Rose Lee, and her grandson Joey.
She was born on the 31st of August 1938.
She was a florist by trade, owning her own flower shop on 18th Street in the Pilsen Neighborhood of Chicago. A hardworking mother, who never complained and always brought joy with her infectious laugh and beautiful smile.
She touched many lives as a mother, friend, confidant, and protector. A devout Catholic, she attended mass regularly, loved Jesus, and spread His word.
She is survived by 1 sister, Anita Fragoso. Her children: Antonio Cardenas, Sandra (Tom) Tomschin, Juan (Sonia) Cardenas, Diana (Manuel) Santoyo, Gerardo (Lorena) Cardenas, Jorge, and Anthony Michael.
Her grandchildren: Rachel (Robert Guerra), Daniel, Toni Marie, Andy, Yliana (Roger) Martinez, Adam Jr., Johnny Cardenas, David (Sarah) Castillo, Samuel (Lisa) Castillo, Amanda (Zachary) Hierl, Mark Santoyo, Gerardo Jr., Sergio Angel, Allesandro Cardenas, Emily, Cameron, Jorge Jr., Joaquin Cardenas, Amelia Marie Cardenas.
Her great grandchildren: Isabelle, Isaac, Isaiah Martinez, Layla and Olivia Castillo, Sabrina and Anthony Castillo, Alex and Kaitlin Hierl, Malaynah Nicole “Lil Angie” Cardenas.
