Klara Kletter

Our beautiful mother, Klara Sarah Esther Kletter, passed away August 28, 2024. Born in Czechoslovakia on May 24, 1926 to Izsak and Helen Herrmann, always elegant, fierce, funny, smart, a great storyteller, and a handful. A survivor in every sense: of Auschwitz and Birkenau, of a lost world, and the new one she made for herself and five children in New York. She was our axis and our star.

Klara was preceded in death by her husband George Kletter, her parents, and brothers Josef and Micsu.

She is survived by her children Adrianne Avila (Edgar), Karen Kletter, Dana Kletter (Neal Fisher), Wendy Kletter Feuer (Edward), and Robert Winston Kletter; her grandchildren Paul Avila (Jessi), Bridget Avila, Alex Jonathan Chmelensky, Zachary Feuer (Samantha), and Spencer Feuer (Diana), Noah Cutchin; and great-grandson Matthew Avila.

A graveside service will be held at Friday, August 30th, 12:30 pm, Beth El Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ. Shiva will be follow directly after and through Sunday.
