A visitation for Richard Weston will be held on Thursday, October 3rd from 3pm to 5pm and 7pm to 9pm at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358. A funeral mass will take place Friday, October 4th, at 9:45 am at St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church located at 82-00 35th Ave, Jackson Heights, NY 11372.
Richard William Weston, aged 89, passed away peacefully on September 28th, 2024. Richard was born on July 26th, 1935 in New Haven, CT. On September 14th, 1954 he joined the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Macon as a radioman "Class A". While serving his country faithfully he visited 24 countries throughout Europe, Central America, South America, and the Middle East. He was honorably discharged on August 8th, 1956.
Richard worked on Wall Street, Whiteweld Marie Midland Bank and Minolta Copiers. He worked for Minolta as a District Manager for a number of years and was one of their best workers. He also worked for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Then he retired.
Richard lived in many places throughout his lifetime but finally settled in New York where he met his wife Bertha Camal. They were married for 55 years. They enjoyed traveling and going to restaurants together. Richard loved to play golf and played until only recently.
Richard always kept himself busy and in his younger days was quite the athlete. He was always good to those around him. He was dedicated husband and father. Family was always his priority.
He is survived by his devoted wife Bertha, their daughter Denise, son-in-law Matthew Puhalski, and his granddaughter Abigail Puhalski. He is also survived by his two sons Troy and his daughter-in-law Carolyn Weston. Eric and Pauline Weston, their daughter Jenny Weston and Dana Miller, his granddaughters and son-in-law Malcolm Miller and their children, his great-grandchildren Maya, Weston, and Eli.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to the Disabled American Veterans organization.
