Juan married Carla (Gillean) on August 23, 1969. They had four children Michelle, Brandon, Nathan, and Amy. Juan was drafted to Vietnam in September of 1969. He was an Airborne Ranger, part of a small recon team that would paratroop behind enemy lines. He was a proud Veteran and shared his war stories with many.
Juan had a fulfilling career as a driver for Coca-Cola, a farrier for the farming families in Flushing and finally retired after spending 30 years at General Motors as an assembly line worker. Juan also enjoyed coaching many Flushing youth sports teams over the years.
Juan enjoyed many things in his 70 years but most important to him was his family; he spent all his spare time with his kids and grandkids. After spending multiple summers there he finally purchased his home at his favorite place, Silver Lake. He LOVED driving his truck in the sand dunes and everywhere else. He was a friend to everyone he met and welcomed them into his life, heart and home. He cherished every relationship he had, from the grocery store cashier to the doctors and nurses in his final days. He would thank each one of you for the good times, the laughs, the beautiful life and tell you that he will always be “hangin’ around”.
Juan is survived by his children Michelle DeLaRosa, Brandon (Jessica) DeLaRosa, Amy (Patrick) Greeley, his grandchildren Alex, Mica, Miah, Brandon, Ryan, Lennon, & Laine. Additional cherished family Debra Calkins, Misti Bowden, Michelle (Jon) Cherry, Brian Bowden and their children Seth, Breea, Zak, Jackson, Mila, Liam, Ian, and Gianna. His siblings Sarah Caballero, Stella (Dan) McDonald, Linda (Jessie) Aleman, as well as many nieces and nephews. He loved his extended family and friends, that we can’t even begin to list. Juan was preceded in death by his son, Nathan Cruz DeLaRosa; siste,r Mary Klein; brothers, Joseph & Feliberto DeLaRosa; and parents Sirildo & Domitila DeLaRosa.
