Pelagia "Peggy" Gumato, 100, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home on September 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 11, 1924, in Maybocog, Eastern Samar, Philippines, Peggy lived a rich and fulfilling life.
After World War II, she married Lino Gumato, and together they raised six wonderful children in their homeland. In the early 1990s, she and her husband emigrated to Houston, Texas, to be closer to one of their children. They also lived in Crane, Texas with their son & daughter-in-law. In 2020, during the pandemic, she moved to Palm Coast, Florida, to live with her daughter.
Peggy had a passion for traveling and cooking, and she was deeply devoted to her faith, spending much of her time in prayer. She was a cherished member of the Catholic Women’s League in San Isidro Labrador Catholic Church in Loreto, Dinagat Islands. Also with Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Crane, Texas and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church Palm Coast, Florida.
Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lino, in 2011, and their daughter, Norma Sembillo, in 2021. She is survived by her children: Lino Jr. (Corazon), Danilo (Gwen), Thelma (Srinivas Sathiraju), Ida (Kavin Lam), and Jose (Sixta Monica); her grandchildren, Hazel, Rupert and Angelo; three great-grandchildren, Henrietta, Kenzo and Johanna Norma and her sisters, Rosario Carpeso and Fe Gumaroy.
In honor of Peggy’s life and legacy, donations may be made in her memory to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
A viewing for Peggy will be held Monday, September 30, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach, Florida 32136. A vigil service will occur at 6:00 PM. A church viewing will occur Tuesday, October 1, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 4600 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast, Florida 32164. A funeral mass to begin at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow the mass at Flagler Memorial Gardens.
