Michael Devon Rountree, 69, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away on December 8, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 9, 1954, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, to the late Lavern Rountree and Jane Klee. Michael graduated from Ft. Lauderdale High School in 1972 and dedicated his working life to the family business, Rountree Transport and Rigging, where he served in various capacities.
In 1971, Michael met the love of his life, JoAnne Thompson, and they married in 1974. Together, they raised their family in South Florida before moving to Flagler Beach in 2005. This move allowed him to indulge in his passions, which included surfing, boating, fishing, and his enthusiasm for riding Harley Davidson motorcycles.
Michael was preceded in death by his beloved son, Stephen Christopher Rountree, in 2001. He is survived by his wife of, JoAnne; son, Jason Rountree; grandchildren, Jacob and Jane Rountree; sister, Susan, and her husband Patrick Gallaway; Marilyn and her husband Thomas Runck; brother, Jim, and his wife Bridget Rountree, along with many more loving relatives and wonderful friends.
Because of his love and dedication to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ as described in his favorite bible verse, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8; in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Michael's memory to Coastal Bible Fellowship Church https://coastalbiblefellowship.com/.
Details for a celebration of life will be announced at a later date in early 2024, allowing friends and family to come together to remember and honor a man whose life was filled with love, family, and adventure.
