Lyda M. Spear, 82, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away on July 14, 2024, at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House. She was born on October 8, 1941, to the late David and Nellie Spear in Oakland, New Jersey. Lyda married her first husband, Charles V. Gruner, and together they had three children. Later in life, she found companionship with Chet King, and they shared several years together until his passing.
Lyda dedicated her career as an office manager for various companies, ultimately retiring with the New Jersey Audubon. After retirement, she relocated to Palm Coast, Florida, where she immersed herself in her passions for crafting, researching family ancestry, and birdwatching. Lyda created a tranquil backyard oasis that was a haven for birds.
She is preceded in death by her sons, Michael Brian Gruner in 1968 and David Charles Gruner in 2010, and her brothers, Robert H. Spear and David I. Spear. Lyda is survived by her daughter Melissa and husband Michael Zuest, cousin Karen Lamberton, her beloved granddog, a Golden Doodle named Zoey, and many other loving relatives and friends.
