He was born October 29, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York, a son of Joseph and Charlotte Goodwin Norton.
Mr. Norton grew up in Mountain Lakes New Jersey, where he graduated from Mountain Lakes High School. After graduating, he attended Villanova University. Joe went on to work for Components for Electronics (CFE), a company owned by his father, and took over the company after his father retired. Joe served as a volunteer firefighter from 1960 until 1976 and for three years as fire chief for Rainbow Lakes, NJ. He retired from CFE in August of 2007, and moved to Palm Coast. He was an avid bird hunter and clays shooter, hunting both with his sons and grandchildren in several different states. Joe was President of the Flagler Horseshoe Club, former C.O.P. with the Flagler Sheriff’s Department, and volunteered at AdventHealth Palm Coast hospital in the ER for many years. He also enjoyed collecting model trains. Mr. Norton was an avid New York Giants fan, and a former season ticket holder with his father. He also enjoyed Sudoku and crossword puzzles, was a cigar aficionado, and always enjoyed a good Bombay Sapphire Martini.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, the former Carol Casterline whom he married May 14, 1988; Three children Joe (Amanda) Norton, Tim (Carolyn) Norton and Denise (Lawlor) Brown. Two step sons, Chris and Tim; One brother, Greg (Sue) Norton; and several grandchildren, Julia, Megan, T.J., Aiden, Joziah, Elianna, Phoebe and Caleb.
A memorial service will be held, Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home.
Interment will take place, Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 12:30 PM at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover NJ., 07932
