Jack E. Shults was born December 8th, 1928, in Harpster, Ohio to Charles and Mabel Breece Shults. He grew up on the family farm with his two sisters Janice and Rheda and his younger brother Lonnie. He enjoyed telling stories and reminiscing about his time in 4-H, his mothers amazing basketball shots and stories of flying his uncle’s plane. After joining the US Army Air Corp, he met the love of his life, Joan Williams Shults on the Jersey Shore. After they were married, he went on to serve in World War II in Japan. Once returning home to New Jersey, Jack started his career as a Lineman with JCP&L and was a proud member and past president of the IBEW. He worked his way up through the company and retired as a Superintendent. Jack was a lifetime member of the ELKS and a competitive square dancer. Jack and Joan loved traveling across the US in their many RVs making memories and new friends along the way. Jack never missed an Ohio State game or a Nascar race, especially if it was in Dover. After Joan’s passing in 2009, Jack moved to Flagler Beach to be closer to his granddaughters Janice Faust and her husband Dave and Jennifer Dennis and her husband Chad. He was very involved in his church where he made lasting friendships and wonderful memories. Janice and Jack were never far apart, and everyone knew what “Call Janice” meant. His kind words, loving smile and heartfelt advice will be greatly missed.
Jack is survived by his son Douglas Shults of Milton, Florida. His Daughter Bobbi Fauser and her husband Ned of Lee, Florida. 5 Granddaughters, 10 Great Grandchildren and 9 Great Great Grandchildren. Several cousins, close friends and his “girls” that took such loving care of him.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 16th at Flagler Beach Methodist Church at 11:00am. Friends and Family are welcome to come share their stories of this truly wonderful man. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research. A graveside service will be held a later date in New Jersey.
