David S. Fleu, 73, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 23, 2024. Born on August 30, 1950, in Orange, New Jersey, he was the beloved son of the late Robert Willis and Jean Conde Fleu. David's life journey was marked by achievements, adventures, and cherished relationships.
He graduated from Wayne Valley High School in 1968 and continued his pursuit of knowledge, earning a Bachelor's Degree from West Virginia Wesleyan University in 1973. David began his professional career in Finance in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he made a significant impact during his initial years. His dedication and expertise led him to New York City, where he found a home at J.P. Morgan Chase. Rising through the ranks, he retired as a Senior Vice President, leaving behind a legacy of excellence.
In 2010, David embraced a well-deserved retirement and chose Palm Coast, Florida, as his new haven. Here, he reveled in the year-round warm weather, pursuing his passions for golf, swimming, and playing Tennis and Squash. His sense of community was evident as he served as a former board member in Sea Colony, contributing to the betterment of his surroundings.
David loved to cook, and after retiring from JP Morgan Chase, he attended The French Culinary Institute at the International Culinary Center in New York City, graduating in September 2008.
David's philanthropic spirit shone through as he cared deeply for others. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, reflecting his compassion for children in need.
Preceding him in death was the love of his life, Jan Kovacs, in 2019. David is survived by his sister, Barbara, and her husband, John Spino, along with their children, Melissa and Vincent Spino. He also leaves behind a circle of wonderful friends who will fondly remember the joy and warmth he brought into their lives.
