Cathy was born and raised in Philadelphia PA. She attended Little Flower High School before earning her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. At Penn, she was a proud member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Upon graduation, she taught high school Science, mostly Chemistry, in the School District of Philadelphia. She moved quickly up the ladder in the school district and after a second master’s degree, became a principal of several middle schools. She excelled at her career and earned the prestigious School District of Philadelphia Principal of the Year award, in the 8th largest public school system in the nation, in 1998. After retirement, she moved to Ormond Beach FL where she enjoyed playing golf in several leagues at Halifax Plantation (and got a hole-in-one on #13!), travelling the world with her friends, playing bridge, and celebrating holidays and milestones with her precious family.
Cathy loved her family, and was predeceased by her father, Jesse, and mother Eleanor. She devoted her life to caring for her mother until her passing in 2010. Cathy, or more affectionately, Noan, is survived by her brother Jesse (Maryanne) Casselberry and sister Marybeth (James) Slick. Aunt Noan is also missed by her nephew Jesse (Edie) Casselberry, niece Marybeth (Michael) Boyle, nephew James (Georgia) Slick, nephew Michael Casselberry as well as their collective children: Carly (Kevin) Maguire, Brian (Erika) Kilgore, Alexandra Slick, Nina Casselberry, and the littlest Rose Maguire.
Cathy’s life will be celebrated at a Memorial Mass on Tuesday, August 2nd at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Korona.
