Angelo "Johnny" Carrion

Angelo "Johnny" Carrion, 86, of Kissimmee, Florida, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at his home. He was born on January 27, 1938, in Catano, Puerto Rico to the late Emiliano and Encarnacion Carrion.

Johnny had an adventurous spirit from a young age, joining the United States Marine Corps at just 16 years old, where he served from 1954 to 1958 with honor and dedication.

Following his military service, Johnny embarked on a career dedicated to service and protection. He began by working at a mental hospital, always sharing his sharp wit and humor with those around him making sure to let people know he only worked there and wasn’t a patient! Later, he joined the Suffolk County New York Police Force, where he became known for his tenacity and commitment to justice. His dedication led him to specialize as a Suffolk County Narcotic Detective, spending 20 years fearlessly conducting undercover work to combat crime in his community.

Upon retiring from the police force, Johnny continued his service to the law as a US Court Officer under the US Marshal's Service in San Juan, Puerto Rico. His unwavering dedication to upholding the law was evident throughout his career.

Outside of his professional life, Johnny was a man of many talents and passions. He found joy in woodworking, gardening, and music, often sharing his love for these hobbies with family and friends by gifting them his home grown avocado or passion fruit trees. Johnny was also renowned for his culinary skills, particularly as the official “coquito maker” of the family gatherings.

Johnny was a member of various associations, including the Suffolk County Police Benevolent Association, Suffolk County Detectives Association, and the Retired Police Association of the State of New York, where he formed lifelong friendships and bonds with fellow officers.

Johnny will be deeply missed by his children, Michele, Anthony, Camille, Kareen, and Annette; his seven grandchildren, Ricky, Sarina, Racquel, Alanna, Angelina, Anthony, and Korben; as well as many more loving relatives and friends who were touched by his warmth, humor, and generosity.

In honoring Johnny's memory, may we strive to embody his spirit of service, humor, and love for life.

A memorial gathering for Johnny will be held Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach, Florida 32136, followed by a memorial service with military honors at 2:00 PM.
