It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew Louis Matulica Jr., who left us peacefully on November 8, 2024, at the age of 74. Born November 1, 1950, in Chicago Illinois, Andrew Jr. was the only son of the late Andrew Sr. and Lena Matulica.
A proud veteran, Andy served in the United States Army as an artilleryman, an experience that forever shaped his character. After his service, Drew enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with AT&T, where he worked for 35 years as a telecommunications engineer, foreman, and staff director. His contributions to the company and his field were immeasurable. Upon his retirement, Andy embraced his work as a skilled craftsman founding AMA Construction alongside his father, specializing in custom homes and remodels. In 1999, Andy and his wife Cindy relocated to Palm Coast, Florida, where he went on to establish Mr. Whiskers Handyman Service, known throughout the community for his reliability, skill, and commitment to quality work.
Andy was a generous and passionate man who loved life and gave much of himself to others. A talented woodworker, he dedicated time to creating and distributing handcrafted rocking horses to children, sharing his love of craftsmanship with the younger generation. He was an avid fisherman who found peace and solace on the water. When he could no longer be on the water himself, he donated his boat to the Broken Arrow Foundation to be repurposed as a dive vessel used for veterans suffering from PTSD- an act that reflects his compassion and commitment to those who served.
Andrew was proceeded in death by his parents, Andrew Sr. and Lena Matulica, and many lifelong friends.
Andy is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Cynthia Matulica, as well as numerous cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews. A devoted “Uncle Andy” to his family, friends, and strangers alike he drew all near with his warmth, humor, and generosity. Andy lived with enthusiasm and joy, always sharing the simple pleasures of life with others. His legacy is one of family and friendship. He will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
