Sergio Isaac Rivera

On Saturday, May 28, 2022, Sergio Isaac Rivera, loving son and brother, gained his angel wings at the age of 33. Sergio was born on April 20, 1989 in Fairfax, VA to Isaac and Rosario Rivera. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from George Mason University (GMU) in 2011. After realizing he wanted to pursue a career that gave back to the community in a more tangible way, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 2016 from GMU. He was on the front lines during the global pandemic, working as a travel nurse in hard-hit areas such as Florida. He treated his patients with great compassion and took the time to get to know their life stories and interests as well as that of their loved ones because each patient was unique to him. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family and close friends and was passionate about discovering new cultures and adventures through travel. He was present for the birth of both his niece and nephew and filled their hearts with a life’s worth of love and admiration from an uncle. Sergio is survived by his father, Isaac, his mother, Rosario, his sister, Gina, his brother-in-law, Matthew, his niece, Analise, his nephew, Joshua, his uncle, Jorge, his aunt, Cristina, his cousins, Lizeth and Gerson, his nieces, Evet and Bella, his best friend, Sofia, and several more dear aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He touched the lives of so many and even in his passing continues to teach us to live and love well.

Thank you for gathering here today to celebrate the life of Sergio. We’re honored to have Senior Pastor, David Magnet, of Fairfax Circle Church, lead his memorial service. Pastor David was the Youth Pastor during the several years Sergio attended Fairfax Circle Church and we’re comforted knowing Sergio is smiling at us.
