Ricardo Marvin Whitson

Ricardo spent his early years in Washington DC before settling in Arlington VA. He attended schools in Arlington and graduated from Hoffman-Boston High School in 1958. He served in the United States Army. He held many different jobs such as orderly at the hospital but his favorite and final job was Prop Master at the National Theater where he spent over 30 years.

He met the love of his life Joyce Eunice Paige Whitson and they wed in 1963. From that union came Rhoda Nachee Whitson-Davis(Perry Davis), Sharanda Denise Whitson Wilson(Byron Wilson) and Ricardo Monte Whitson. He was affectionately know by his neighbors as “The Mayor” and you could often find him outside listening to music or working in his yard. He had many joys in the world including yoga, the theater and fashion.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Whitson, as well as his children Rhoda Whitson-Davis and Ricardo Whitson. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Sharanda Whitson Wilson(Byron Wilson), his grand children(Ashley, Jasmine, Byron and Ricardo Wilson), great grandchildren (Kayden, Bryce and Kayla), as well as a host of relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Visitation will take place at Mt. Zion Baptist Church; 3500 19th St. S. Arlington, VA 22204 on January 5th, 2024 at 10 AM. Celebration of Life Funeral service to follow at 11 AM. Interment at 1 PM at Pleasant Valley Memorial Park, 8420 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, VA 22003.
