Michael Goodchild

Michael Steven Goodchild, 62, of Centreville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on June 20th, 2024, at his home in Centreville, Virginia, surrounded by his family. Michael was born in Washington, DC to Virginia Lee and James Arthur Goodchild on December 13, 1961. He grew up in Landover Hills, Maryland with his six siblings and graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1979. He married Janine Larsen on July 27, 2002, in Falls Church. Janine and Michael welcomed a beautiful daughter in September of 2005. He worked for Loudoun County as both a Computer Operator/Technician and Broad Band Specialist for 20 years. Prior to that he worked in the computer department for Union Labor Life Insurance Company and Manor Health Care Systems in Maryland for 17 years. Michael had a big heart, a broad, sincere smile, and a kind word for everyone. He enjoyed fixing things and was always willing to lend a hand to neighbors and friends with various car repairs or plumbing and household projects. He loved traveling and going to the beach with his family; attending concerts and weekly trivia nights with his wife; and listening and dancing to country music. He especially loved playing board games and spending time with the apple of his eye, his treasured daughter, Alexa. Michael is preceded in death by his parents James Arthur Goodchild and Virginia Lee Goodchild. Michael is survived by his wife of 22 years, Janine Larsen Goodchild; his daughter Alexa Marie Goodchild; his sisters Linda (Jerry) Kibler, Debbie Foster (Carmen Meo), Gail Goodchild, Brenda (Billy) Howes; his brothers James and Joseph (Pattie) Goodchild. In addition, he is survived by his uncle Raymond (Becky) Middleton; nine nieces and nephews (Brian, Craig, Lori, Billy, Crystal, Jacqueline, Justin, Sherri, and Emily), as well as numerous great nieces and nephews; and his beloved canine companion, Pepper. Pallbearers will be Joseph Goodchild, James Goodchild, Jerry Kibler, Billy Howes, Lee Larsen, and Nick Sarris. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Lost Dog Rescue or PanCan (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network). A funeral service will occur Monday, July 1, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042. A committal service will occur Monday, July 1, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.
