Dear Diana,
We were deeply saddened when we were told the horrible news that John had passed away.  John was one of the most decent, loving and kindest gentleman who we had the honor of knowing and seeing on  several occasions.  He was always a pleasure to be around and made each and everyone of us feel so special.  I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to call and speak with John and you this past June.  We always saw and knew that John and you were the loves of each others  lives.  We are eternally thankful for his service for our country.  May John rest in peace forever.  Please accept our prayers and condolences.

We too are sorry for your loss.  

I'll never forget Uncle John’s deep engagement and willingness to share his Vietnam experiences with my, then 9-year-old son for his Veteran's Day project.  He connected with him in such a beautiful way that day and Adam so enjoyed presenting John's story to his classmates.   I'll also miss the chatting at family events about the stock market, life, and my career journey.  

Finally, throughout childhood and yes, adulthood, he always called me “buckaroo”. I will miss that as well.

We are so sorry for your loss.  

John was a special person who I got to know many years ago, when we would commute to work.  Later in life, when we would have brunch at IHOP, or play a round of golf, John was always  fun to be around.  If you were his friend, that meant very much to him and he would always try to be a good friend to you.  You could always count on him.

I was proud that he considered me his friend, and I was proud to have him as a dear friend.

Rest in peace, John.
