James Thomas Bradley passed on December 13, 2018 at his home in Falls Church, VA. He was born on October 6, 1939 in Arlington, VA to the late Maude Hastletine (Baumgarner) and Frank Patton Bradley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Charlotte Bradley, his children; Richard William Smith (Sheila), Joseph Brian Smith (Laurie), Deborah Jean Rinaldi (Philip) and Maribeth Bradley Dwyer (Robert); a brother, Robert Coleman Bradley (Genevieve); along with five grandchildren; Richard Leon Smith (Marisa), Philip Christopher Rinaldi, Sara Marie Ramirez (Jorge), Gina Marie Rinaldi and Delilah Lynn Dwyer; and 3 great-grandchidren; Nick Ramirez, Noah Ramirez and Max Smith. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Bradley and two sisters, Helen Edwards and Betty Bridges. He was dearly loved and will be missed by many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Tommy enlisted in the Army at the age of 17, spending two years in Korea before returning home to settle, work and build a successful plumbing business. He and Mary moved into their current home in the Pimmit Hills neighborhood of Falls Church in 1962. He loved bluegrass music and enjoyed playing both the mandolin and guitar. He also enjoyed bowling on numerous duckpin leagues, boating, fishing, a few poker games and turkey shoots in his younger days. He was a dog lover and cared for many throughout the years. We know he is now reunited with PePe, Gypsy, Bo, Lady, Bubba and his beloved Boo. Tommy also loved to garden, spending many Saturdays in Amissville with his parents in the big garden and growing many varieties of tomatoes, beans, and blackberries in his own yard. His greatest joy, however, was simply being home surrounded by family, eating meals, watching the Redskins or Nationals, and celebrating birthdays and holidays. His family was his greatest blessing.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, December 20, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 West Broad Street in Falls Church, VA. A Memorial service will take place on Friday, December 21, 11:00 a.m. at Sleepy Hollow United Methodist Church in Falls Church, VA. Internment will immediately follow at Columbia Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
