 Obituario de Grace Lam
On Saturday, August 27, 2022, Grace Mai Yip Lam, loving wife and caring mother of five, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 84. Grace was born in Hong Kong, China in 1938 to Ah Yee Wang and Hang Fung Wang. It was there that she met Jack, her husband for over 50 years. She devoted her life to her children. She raised them by herself for 6 years while Jack sought a better life for them in the United States, finally leaving her home in Hong Kong to move to join Jack in the United States soon after her third child was born. Although she didn’t speak English initially, she was brave enough to work part time, while still taking care of her family. She would take her kids out by herself and show them the many opportunities that existed for them. She encouraged her kids to always do the right thing and protected them. She helped raise 11 grandkids and was able to see her first great-grandchild. Grace’s American name could not be more appropriate as she epitomized this word. Her life in the United States was one filled with many challenges, but she never let them show, especially to her children. She modeled all that she wanted for those around her: the commitment to family, a strong work ethic and sense of resiliency, showing an unwavering amount of grace, and finding joy in life with her big laugh. She worked hard to ensure that those she loved and cared for were provided with all that they needed all of the time. Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her parents, Ah Yee Wang and Hang Fung Wang; and her brother, Zhang Ming Wang. She is survived by her daughter Alice and son-in-law Jeff and grandchildren Christie, Christal, Justin, and great-grandchild Nathan; her son Bobby and daughter-in-law Jean and grandchildren Tyler and Cara; her daughter, Susie and son-in-law David and grandchildren Emma and Eric; her daughter Mary and son-in-law Earl and grandson Parker; her daughter Ann and son-in-law Ryan and grandsons Brandon, Steven, and Adam; and her siblings Zhang Hui Wang (sister), May Lin Wang (sister), Susan Wang (sister), and Kenneth Wang (brother). The family will hold a service on September 17, 2022.
