Born to J. Dewey and Margaret Weaver (both deceased) on November 30, 1932, Beth grew up in Grayson County, Virginia, and moved to Washington, D.C. after graduating from high school. As an executive assistant, she held positions at the Department of the Navy, Red Cross, Pentagon, as well as in the private sector.
Beth was a devoted mother to her daughter Bettina Thomas, and for 46 years, a loving wife to Lester Newhouse (deceased). She was gifted at creating dried flower arrangements and other crafts and enjoyed being involved in the Springfield Women’s Club and United Methodist Church.
She shared a wonderful life with her five sisters: Mary Hodges, Carol Porterfield, Colleen Richardson, Hazel Reedy (all deceased), and Ruth Waller who resides in Wilmington, NC. She is survived by her daughter, Tina, son-in-law, Barry, and many nieces and nephews who have fond memories of family gatherings.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name to the Alzheimer's Association, the American Heart Association, or a charity of your choice.
The family of Elizabeth Newhouse wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the excellent medical professionals that have treated her over the years. A special thanks goes to the team at Capital Caring Hospice led by Dr. Hoffman and the caregivers (Adu, Z, Abeba, Tenagne, Messy, and Roma) who tirelessly served “mama” for the last eight years of her life.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA 22042.
