Cathe was born in Washington DC on November 27, 1949, to the late John Graybill and Jean Meadows. Cathe was the second of 4 children and was predeceased by her husband John Anton Hardie, SR. She is survived by her sister, Joann Graybill and her two brothers John Graybill and his wife Chris and Bill Graybill and his wife Jane. Cathe is also survived by 3 stepchildren, Mark Anton Hardie (Catherine), Pamela Jan Hardie and John Anton Hardie Jr. (Karen) also with 5 grandchildren, Nicole Eileen, McKenna Marie, Jacqueline Marie, Emily Grace and Michael Anton and two great grandchildren, Elijah Thomas and Eleanor Grace.
Cathe was extremely social and enjoyed golfing with her husband John, her stepfather Harry Meadows and her brothers John and Bill and with her many friends. She also greatly enjoyed playing the game of Mahjong and antiquing with her sister Joann particularly in trips to Pennsylvania.
Cathe married John Hardie on May 23, 1981 at the Hermon Presbyterian Church in Bethesda, MD and they enjoyed 32 beautiful years of marriage. They wintered in Bonita Springs Fl and became year-around residents in 2001. They built their dream retirement home which became their paradise where they could both golf, John could fish and the weather would allow them to enjoy their sports year-round.
Cathe will be greatly missed by her sister, two brothers, their wives and three stepchildren, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Cathe was a loving soul dedicated to caring for many of her family especially her grandmother Florence Graybill (Nannie) and her late husband John. She evolved into an excellent cook and enjoyed planning and having large dinner parties. Some of her fondest times were the 20 plus years of family reunions at Deep Creek Lake Md, where she would orchestrate “Princess Training” for all the young girls as well as spend time with the many friends she made over the years at ShadowWood Country Club in Bonita Springs, Fl.
The family will have a “celebration” of her life at 2pm Sunday, May 7th at National Funeral Home at 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church VA. Burial will follow at 3pm at the same location.
