March 24, 2023 in Arlington, VA following a brief illness. He was born to
Albert and Victoria Chavoor on October 13, 1922 in Worcester , MA where
he graduated from South High School.
He graduated from Clark University in 1944, and then attended Holy Cross
University where he entered the V-12 Navy Training Program.
He received his D.D.S. degree from Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in
1948. After a 1yr internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center
(1948-49), he then served in the US Air Force Dental Corp as Chief of
Dental Service in Middletown, PA from 1949-1951.
He completed his graduate education in Orthodontics at Columbia
University in 1953. He opened his private practice in Falls Church, VA and
Washington, DC where he practiced for over 30 years.
He joined the faculty of the Georgetown School of Dentistry where he was
named Chairman of the Department of Orthodontics from 1962-1979, and
was appointed Assistant Dean for Advanced Dental Education in 1986. He
was a member of several societies during his professional lifetime, including
The American Association of Orthodontics, the DC Dental Society, where he
served as President from 1969-1970, The Greater NY Dental Society, and
The European Orthodontic Society.
He was preceded in death by his brother Afrem, his sister Alice, and his son
Richard. He is survived by his wife Raymonde Debruyne Chavoor, his
daughter, Claude Chavoor-Pardes and her husband Stephen Pardes, as well
as his beloved grandsons Alexander and Zachary Pardes.
Funeral and burial services are scheduled for 10AM, Thurs, 3/30 at the
National Funeral Home in Falls Church, VA.
