Born in Fall River, a son of the late William J. Hoyle and Mary L. (Quirk) Hoyle, he was a proud Fall River native and maintained close ties to the area even after living in New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, California, and more recently, the Seattle area.
A graduate of Coyle High School and Seton Hall University, he served in the U. S. Army prior to beginning a career in advertising sales for the Fall River Herald News in the 1950’s. Bill had a lifelong interest in boating and shipbuilding.
Surviving in addition to his wife, daughter, Joan M. Boucher and her husband Robert M. of Dartmouth; two sons, Dennis E. Hoyle of Cranston, RI and John W. Hoyle and his wife Jane of Tiverton, RI; two granddaughters, Elizabeth S. Boucher and Hannah Hoyle; two sisters, Mary Kinnucan of Osterville, MA and Margaret Walsh of Fall River; three stepsons and three stepdaughters and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, December 4th at 10:00 AM in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Spring St. Fall River. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Fall River Herald News Holiday Fund, 207 Pocasset St., Fall River, MA 02722.
