Raymond E. “Ray” Dolber, Sr., age 85, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023, after a courageous battle with illness. He was the husband of the late Nan E. (Price) Dolber and longtime companion of Terry Pelletier.
Born in Charlestown, MA the son of the late John G. and Cecilia (McCarthy) Dolber, he was a proud Bostonian before settling down in Fall River.
A graduate of Bunker Hill High School, he attended Fisher Junior College in Providence, RI. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps he served during the Vietnam War and was honored to stand guard for President Dwight D. Eisenhower. He worked as a driver for the Coca-Cola Company and was a Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service for many years.
A proud member of Fall River Elks Lodge #118 and Amvets Post 60, he hails with delight from Charlestown, MA, embracing his Irish heritage. He was a dedicated advocate for the ASPCA, and over the course of his life provided a loving home for many cats and canines alike. He also enjoyed traveling with Terry, taking chances at the casino and was often heard saying "I came, I saw, I conquered". His greatest joy was time spent with his family.
He is survived by his four children: Nancy Narrett (Dr. Matthew) of Ellicott City, MD, JodiBeth Garvey (Stephen) of Warwick, Lauren Koncius of Hull, MA and Raymond E. Dolber, Jr. (June) of AZ. Additionally, he leaves behind ten grandchildren: Sophia Narrett, Ryan McCarthy, Dr. Jackson Narrett, Zachary McCarthy, Cecilia Narrett, Jillian McCarthy, Jake Koncius, Ian Dolber, Nathan Dolber, and Kelli Garvey. He is also fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, John R. Dolber, and siblings John G., Arthur, Robert, Lorraine Dolber, and Roy Stanley.
His visitation will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 10:00 -11:30 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM. Contributions in his honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
