Entered into eternal rest, on June 27, 2016, Peter John Harney, Jr., aged 91 years. Son of the late Peter John Harney, Sr., and Eunice (Montigny) Harney, he was born on September 21, 1924, and was a lifelong resident of Fall River.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he was married for 56 years to the late Angela (Albanese) Harney, and is survived by a daughter, Patricia Harney Davis, a grandson, Andrew Adams Davis, both of Fall River, and a granddaughter, Caitlin Quinn Davis, of Boston. He was also the brother of the late Donald Francis Harney.
In 1941, at the age of 17, he was proud to enlist in the United States Navy, and served his country in WWII in Guam and the Aleutian Islands. He worked as an electrician until his retirement in 1986, and was a loyal member of the IBEW, Local 437. A lifetime member of the Fall River Rod and Gun Club, he remained a competitive trap shooter well into his eighties.
His funeral will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 9am from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10am in Holy Rosary Chapel 120 Beattie St., Fall River. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7pm. Burial will be private.
